Should shark finning be allowed?
Shark fining should not be allowed because it is cruel and this creature that has lived here for hundreds of millions of years is now being destroyed. Sharks every year are being killed in massive numbers. It is estimated around 100 to 200 million sharks annually for their fins alone. This practice is mainly for supplying shark fins for the delicate shark fin soup which is a symbol of wealth in parts of the world. The beautiful hammerhead sharks, or many other species of sharks are being caught, having their fins cut off, and are then thrown back into the sea to sink and die.
I find it very upsetting that all of this killing is for a bowl of soup. Shark finning is not only cruel, but it is annihilating the great equalizer of the sea and if something isn’t done to stop this horrible practice, then these majestic creatures will be lost forever. Mankind cannot continue to abuse these beautiful animals. Shark finning should be made a practice of the past so that the next generation and their children will be able to see and admire sharks in the future. I think that the oceans ecosystem would go terribly wrong due to unbalanced populations, and it would be a tragic day when the only sharks people will get to see are the ones in books.
People don’t understand how wrong it is to destroy sharks in such harsh ways. Once the fins are harvested, they are then dried to be sold in markets to individuals and restaurants to be made into shark fin soup and sold to the public. Prices for as much as $350 per bowl! Chicken or pork are used to flavor, the fins are for texture only. I understand that this may have been a part of culture for many years, but it is now becoming a problem.

Animal Abuse
Millions of sharks are killed each year by sport fishermen, or by a barbaric practice known as shark finning which is becoming very popular. Shark fin soup is a cultural dish that is a huge part of today’s society in certain parts of the world. Sharks are hooked and hauled onto boats; their fins are sliced off while they are still alive so that people can make a profit for personal benefits. These helpless animals are then tossed back into the ocean unable to swim without their fins and they sink towards the bottom and die a slow, painful death.
Some people simply just don’t care about what happens to other people or in this case animals as long as their personal needs are pleased. Whoever published or created these two articles obviously believe that shark finning should be banned completely, and I disagree because it is a major role in some cultures around the world. I honestly believe that yes, it is very wrong indeed due to the way they handle the situation, but who am I to judge the beliefs of other people that are on this planet. Shark finning should be limited to smaller numbers but not completely eliminated.
